March started on an exciting note! We celebrated Literacy Week from 7 to 11 March culminating in the celebration of World Book Day on Friday the 11th of March. Details below! We have started to explore our unit How We Organise Ourselves with the central idea Exchange Systems Help our Community. A week before Literacy Week, we had been making plans on the theme for our door competition. We designed our door following the different scenes from the story Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett. We also had a good time putting in our entries for Guess the Reader and we also adopted a version of our own. Preparations for our Door CompetitionGuess the ReaderAre you able to guess the different readers in Grade 2? Colourful Storybook Doors in our Primary VillageAn Event filled Friday! In celebration of World Book Day, we had a Book Character Parade. The ISS Primary students could not be recognised as they came dressed up as book characters with help from their families and using creative props. Some of us get to share with the rest of the friends on our favourite characters and story book.
Later in the afternoon, the author, Mr Neil Humphreys was so funny and engaging with his personal stories and his tips on how to create a funny character when we write our own stories. Towards the end of the day, we gathered over a virtual Assembly session where we were able to see the photo entries from the Photo Competition for Extreme/ Family Reading. The different winners were also announced.
